Hi, I’m Kate Szabone of Kate Szabone Jewellery! I wanted to take a moment to share a bit about myself for my first blog post.
First, a huge thank you to all of you for your support! I love my job and the business I have been able to create and it wouldn’t be possible without all of you!
On the personal side, I am 36 years old, married with an eleven year old daughter and two dogs. I have been designing jewellery since 2007 with a special interest in engagement rings. My inspiration comes from all aspects of nature, but I particularly love texture.
I love to travel and especially enjoy experiencing different cultures. I am currently in Costa Rica with my family. The work does not stop but view is a whole lot better! I continue to design and work remotely with my customers while the girls back in the studio keep day-to-day operations running smoothly.
Each day of this 3 month visit brings new inspiration and more ideas for my sketchbook. The escape from the daily hustle and bustle gives me a renewed focus on my life and my work. I also love seeing my daughter experience a new school, language and culture - memories that will last her a lifetime.
And at the end of the day we try to head to the beach, have a swim in the ocean and do a little snorkeling. Or maybe visit the local soda for dinner and watch the sunset. Costa Ricans call this ‘pura vida’ which means ‘pure life’ or ‘all is good’. I call it a perfect way to end the day!
Stay tuned for upcoming blog posts about our studio, my journey and our design process.
